Are you a person that likes to see the menus visually? Perhaps you should check out the October 2012 Vegetarian Menu via Pinterest to see the yummy goodness you will be cooking up on this menu. Not sure what Pinterest is all about, check out what Once A Month Mom has to say about it.

Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • Stacey Lorenz: I’m a stay-at-home mom to 4 great kids – a 10 year old boy, 7 year old girl, and 1 1/2 year old twins. We are trying to remove all processed foods from our diet. You can read about our progress (and check out some recipes) at SimpleInTheSuburbs.com.

Get Started

Are you new to Once A Month Mom or once a month cooking (oamc) in general? If so, you might want to spend a few minutes (or hours) on the Get Started Series. If you are in a real hurry to catch on we have written some simple steps for getting started. Welcome!

Hi there! This menu looks great and I’m excited to have just become a member. I’m having a problem though in that most of the links are giving me a blank page with “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.” I can get to the recipe cards, but not the grocery list, instructions, etc. Thanks for any help!

This menu looks great, thanks for making the changes! Keep up the great work.

  4. Amy says:

What is a substitute for sorghum? I don’t like buys weird ingredients that I will only use for one recipe.

Hello! I was so excited to find you, as I have just been telling myself I need to cook once a month and freeze and voila! Here you are! My problem is, not all of the recipes describe how to freeze for it’s particular recipe. I have never frozen food before and was not sure if there are different instructions for different types of food, how to reheat, how long it can be frozen etc. I was a little disappointed when my chosen recipes did not have these instructions. Would love to become a member if I find that this is not the case and I am missing something.

    Thanks!
    Elizabeth

Elizabeth, the problem is not having membership. Membership gets you recipe cards with full instructions on how to freeze and reheat, grocery shopping list and step by step instructions on how to structure your cooking day. Those links are simply to recipes that we adapted to build our menus.

I am hoping to see Vegan menus soon. What a nice web site.

  7. Laura says:

Turkey, pork and chicken are not vegetarian. You might want to rethink those egg rolls.

Laura, are you a member of the site? If you are, you will have access to the Vegetarian Recipe Cards where you will see that adaptations have been made and that this recipe is indeed vegetarian.
