Visiting Ebay/Kijiji in Sunny California!

Last year I was made aware of an online classifieds site similar to Craig’s List called Kijiji. A fellow blogger introduced me as they were doing a promotion and were looking for other bloggers to participate. At the time I was unfamiliar with Kijiji and didn’t have the time to do the promotion. I also had never used the service and didn’t have anything that I needed to sell so I didn’t feel comfortable promoting the site.

However, last fall when I needed to sell some concert tickets I remembered the friend mentioning Kijiji, so I checked back in on the site. It is very similar to Craig’s List in its purpose but has SO MUCH more to offer in terms of visual appeal and user interface. I immediately was drawn to it because of its colorful displays, search-ability and ease of use.

I actually listed my tickets on both Craig’s List and Kijiji. A week later, I found a buyer from Kijiji. I sold the tickets!

Why am I telling you this? I am telling you this because a little over a week ago representatives for Kijiji contacted me to ask if I would be interested in visiting Ebay (Kijiji parent organization) headquarters in San Jose, California to learn more about Kijiji and upcoming plans. I had NO IDEA Kijiji was connected with Ebay, but that made complete sense when I heard it. No wonder the interface is so good and well thought out! And, of course, I agreed to the visit.

As I type, I am on my way to San Jose, California for the visit. This is my first trip as a blogger and I am so excited. Excited about the opportunity, excited to learn more about Kijiji, excited to meet other bloggers and hopeful that there will be some ideas for how to clear my cluttered over-run trashed disorganized basement into an organized profit center! I also want readers to know what my opinions are of Kijiji BEFORE I step foot into their home!

So stay tuned as I am sure that I will be sharing more about my visit soon. And don’t worry, I have some exciting posts lined up for you this week!

Have you ever used Kijiji? What was your experience?

    Tricia,
How exciting! Seeing the inside of EBay sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity. And any chance to go to CA is so fun. I hope you’re coming to BlogHer Food in the fall… missed you last year.
