Welcome to Diet Once A Month Mom!
{This info is debuting a few days early so that we can get the new DIET section up and running! Yipee!}
You’ve spoken and we’ve listened. There are many of you who like once a month cooking but need a “lighter” menu option. So, each month you’ll find a new menu on Once A Month Mom just for you.
Each recipe included in the Diet Once A Month Mom menu will contain nutritional information to use as you calculate caloric intake. If nutritional information isn’t found on the original recipe, it will be calculated using online resources such as NutrtionData.com, SparkPeople.com and FitDay.com. Many of you recently indicated that you follow a Weight Watchers weight loss program so, as an added bonus, Weight Watchers Points will be included in the Nutritional Information section of each recipe. Points will be calculated to the best of our ability but since Diet Once A Month Mom is not associated with Weight Watchers, please use your own tools to ensure the information is accurate.
Types of Food Included in the Diet Once a Month Mom Menu
Diet Once a Month Mom recipes will be much like those found on the original menu but with a healthy twist. Most ingredients will be “real” food but there may also be a few convenience items to ensure quick completion of the menu on your OAMC day.
Most protein choices will be of the lighter variety and will mostly include meats like chicken breast, turkey, pork, fish as well as beans and legumes. Recipes that require flour will often be revised to include partial whole wheat flour. There won’t be many recipes that call for sugar, but if they do, the recipe will be kept as is or another form of raw sugar will be listed as an alternative. You won’t find artificial sweeteners listed in a recipe. Any original recipe that calls for artificial sweeteners will be revised to incorporate real sugar because, let’s face it, that artificial stuff just isn’t good for us!
Diet Once A Month Mom Format
Because each dieter has their own unique needs, the menu is formatted in such a way that can be easily customized to the number of persons in your household. Each menu will be originally formatted for ONE person. If you are cooking for one, you’ll love this! Of course, all the recipe ideas will be healthy enough for every member in your family so the menu, grocery list, and recipe cards can be easily formatted for the exact number of people you are cooking for. To adjust the menu, grocery list, and recipe cards for quantity, look for the YELLOW BOX on each document and input the amount of people you’ll be cooking for. For those in your family that require additional calories, you can easily fill them with extra side items and snacks throughout the day.
Breakfast Recipes – 2-3
We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day (whether dieting or not). But, research indicates that dieters either skip breakfast or they stick with routine breakfast options like cereal or oatmeal. To combat that statistic, it is my goal each month to provide you with quick, healthy meal ideas that you can easily grab on the go. There will be 2 recipe options each month that should provide 15-20 servings of a delicious breakfast to shake up your routine!
Lunch Recipes – 4
Each menu will have four lunch recipes that will provide about 20 servings. That will leave about 10 days to eat out, have leftovers, take advantage of fresh produce and/or make something else. To add variety, I’ll try to incorporate different options like sandwiches, wraps, soups, and salad toppings.
Dinner Recipes 6-7
Dinners will include 6-7 recipe ideas that should provide about 25 servings and will incorporate “lighter” protein options such as chicken, turkey, pork, and fish.
I’m so excited to begin this new journey with you! I hope you enjoy the menu!

So excited to start this plan! I cant wait to have everything organized for me so that I am not the stressed out mama i was last year!
This is awesome Tricia!! Thanks for all the work you put into this
YAY! I am so excited to see the new menu!
I’m excited to see the new menu! When can we expect it?
January 1st at 8:00 am at the same time as the other menu!
And the first of the month every month thereafter.
I am super excited about this! Can’t wait!
Yea! Thank you. I sooooo need this.
You mention Weight Watchers points…are you figuring with the old points system or the new Points Plus that just started at the end of November?
The first few menus will be on the old system as we have to make the change over from previously created menus. However, we will be making the change as soon as we can.
Great! If you need help converting, let me know. Send me the nutritional info and I will adjust for you. Be glad to help.
Great idea – thank you!
Awesome! I’m looking forward to seeing the menu.
Joining in the excitement! I tried Nutrisystem last year, for the convenience factor, but just couldn’t stick with the “shelf stable” foods. Looking forward to a convenient whole foods approach.
This sounds great, I can’t wait to see the menu!
Hooray! This will be so great! Thank you so much!
i just want to say a super THANK YOU for this!!!! i just cannot express enough the appreciation for all this hard work!!
I’m so glad you know it’s hard work!! I never knew how much effort Tricia put into creating the menus until I started creating this one. But, it will be worth it if we all get healthier in the process!!
I can’t wait to get started on the diet plan. I just found your site about a month ago. A special thank you for not using artificial sweeteners and trying to use “real” foods!!!
I’ve read so much negative info about artificial sweeteners that I just can’t promote the use of them by include them in a menu. Glad you agree!!
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! This will make the News Years resolution SO much easiser!
Well, you are very welcome!! Hope you enjoy it! I’d love to get feedback from you if you make the menu.
I have a friend that does this, and I think it is time for me to start as well. It would just save me so much time throughout the month! And I am excited to hear that you are going to do a healthy version of this, so now I can feel good about what I’m making, too! Thank you!
I just went a little while without making monthly menus and my time in the kitchen definitely went up! And so did my eating out budget! Hope you enjoy the menu!
I am so glad that you are making these menus for one person. Being widowed, it’s difficult to get into cooking because everything makes so much.
I hope the menu works out for you. I’d love to get feedback from you if you try it!
I can’t wait! Will this be up on the 1st? I’m so impatient.
Yes, it will be up on the 1st. Hope you like it!
Thanks Christine!

I’m so thrilled to have found this! OAMM was posted on my CSA’s facebook page, and as a single person who is trying to eat healthy, make good use of my CSA produce/meat/eggs, and freeze food ahead, I am so excited. Best of all, the fact that these recipes can all be made for ONE PERSON is amazing – thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Finally, a website I can use!!
Cathi, I am so glad that you like what you see! You will have to do some adapting of container sizes but it should definitely help you out. Please feel free to ask questions and welcome.
Thank you so much for including the Weight Watcher’s points!! This makes my life so much easier, I will be sure to give your website a shout out at my next meeting.
