baby-food

Welcome

Why make your own baby food?  This is a question I asked myself when my first son was getting ready to eat solids.  I remember even scoffing at some friends that did it.  Boy, has my mind changed since then.  Now granted, I have been both a working mom and a stay-at-home mom which has helped me understand both sides of the argument.  I remember working full time and the thought of making my own baby food was absurd.  I really didn’t think I had time to make my own baby food, and didn’t really believe there was a difference in the quality of store bought versus homemade.

But with the arrival of my second son and the honor of staying home with both boys, I have had a little bit more time to do my research and my mind has changed drastically.  Do I think every mom should make their own baby food?  Not necessarily. Do I look down on those who choose to buy store bought? Not at all.  After all, my older son turned out just fine and loves to eat all kinds of good stuff at age 2. But if you are thinking about trying it, this website is for you.

My goal in doing this website is to encourage moms (working and stay-at-home’s alike) that making your own baby food is much easier than you think.  Besides being easy to make, the food is much healthier, tastier and saves you money.  Who doesn’t want to save a little dough?  I remember thinking to myself when I worked that I would rather have the time that it would take to make it, over the money that I spent.  But it doesn’t have to work that way. Just a few hours each month, you can make food for the entire month.  It really can be that simple!

As I began to look into this several months ago, I found many books and websites with great recipes but the one thing that frustrated me the most is that I didn’t really know how much each recipe made.  One recipe would say 4 servings while another one that was identical might say 6 servings.  If you know me, you know that I want to find the best–yet easiest–way to do things. So making enough food at a time–so that I don’t have to be in the kitchen everyday–sounded ideal to me.  So that is where it began. Yes, I know that this isn’t rocket science. Many websites and books go into great detail on how to make, freeze and store baby food.  But what I will be doing is breaking it down a little bit more for you and hopefully making it easier by giving you:

  • monthly menu ideas
  • detailed serving sizes
  • tips on how to save as much money as possible
  • tips on how to create healthy food for your baby

So I invite you to come along in this journey with me.
