Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • Candice Storm – I am a work outside the home mom of 2 active boys, who are 8 and 7. We are a family on the go with sports, outdoor activities, friends, and family. I have a long commute so being able to have something ready for those busy nights is a lifesaver.
  • Jen Friesen – I am mommy to a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. I am lucky enough to work part time from home and stay home full time with them. We live in Petaluma, small town in Northern California. I try to serve my family mostly real food made at home. I occasionally blog about our exploits at http://www.petalumamom.blogspot.com/

Are you new to Once A Month Mom or once a month cooking (oamc) in general? If so, you might want to spend a few minutes (or hours) on the Get Started Series. If you are in a real hurry to catch on we have written some simple steps for getting started. Welcome!

there is something strange going on with the chopping amounts. it says it need 35 sweet potatoes for 8 servings, but in the shopping list it says I need 4.48. garlic is also not consistent between lists…

Nicole I need more details in order to help see the problem. Can you please email me at kelly at onceamonthmom.com and specify the number of servings you put in your yellow box? Thanks!

This is my first time wanting to try oamc. I hadn’t found a whole foods menu before I found your site. I had a question about your monthly menus.. Can I purchase just one month to see if it works for my family? I don’t want to subscribe to a whole year until I try out a month. It looked as if I purchased the monthly it would charge me every month? Thanks for any help. I am really excited about trying this for my family!

    • Kelly says:

Lindsey, yes you can do a month membership to try it out or search for one of the 2011 whole foods menus for free and see if you like it!

Thanks Kelly! I’m excited to try it after the new year! Hoping it saves time with having lots of little ones in my house ;-)

I know I’m a month behind but I can’t wait to make this menu this weekend. I’m not sure any of the pulled pork will make it to the freezer though!
