Test Cooks
Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:
- Eileen O’Toole: I am married with two children, 12 and 13 years of age. I work full time outside of the home. I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes. I love OAMM for helping me stay organized and making freezer meal prep so easy!
- Candice Storm: I am a work outside the home of 2 busy boys that are 8 and 7, and a wife. With the kids sports, long commute, and a small farm to take care of, having Once a Month Mom in the freezer helps save me so much time.

Thank you so much for the bread bowl recipe! My family will be amazed at eating soup out of bread :)
This was my first try at a whole month’s worth. It took longer than expected – I budgeted 3 days knowing my limitations with 2 small children, and it took 4. (though, day #2 was a short day….) I enjoyed the variety, and chose this menu for the lack of tomato sauces and the use of ingredients I already had on hand. I made some silly errors due to not paying attention (bought 3x the leeks, and not quiet enough parsnips) but it all worked out in the end. I might stick with mini-menues though, the time investment was hard for me in my situation.
That is understandable Michelle. I also have 2 small children and typically cook “mini” menus here at our house. A few suggestions: Check out our Whole Foods mini menus! Second, find a cooking partner. I usually cook with my neighbor and we get a whole lot more done with two sets of hands. Just this past Friday we were able to cook 18 meals in just a few hours! Last, if you don’t mind a little less variety, try doubling your mini menus. You will spend just slightly more time, but you double your output. Hope that helps!
