Ziploc House Party Recap | OAMC from Once A Month Mom

Ziploc House Party Recap

**Comments Closed: Congratulations to JenniferL. the chosen winner of this prize package. Random.org chose #69!

This past Saturday was the chosen date for the Ziploc House Party. It was so much fun! The party theme was kitchen organization and I utilized my roles as a Tropicana Juicy Insider and Rice Krispies Ambassador to make the party tasty.

It was an intimate party, I loved it! I love talking and interacting with friends and it was the perfect excuse to do just that. We had a great time talking about Ziploc, making yummy Rice Krispies treats and putting the Cuisinart food processor to the test. Here is a little bit more detail.

Ziploc

Houseparty.com and Ziploc sent the following items for use for the party:

ZiplocContainer

I used the small containers, as well as some of the larger containers I already had at home as serving bowls for the party. We also decorated some Rice Krispies Treat recipes that I have been working on (more on that in another post starting tomorrow 3/23) and I used the small bowls for the embellishments.

We also discussed unique ways to use some of the items that they sent like the Ziploc Big Bags. Here are some ideas guests had:

Ziploc Big Bags XL

  • Use it to carry your OAMM food home after you have cooked at your partner’s house. It can keep food from spilling or gettin all over the car if it leaks.
  • Bringing home wet towels/beach items from vacation, especially that last day.
  • Storing wet/sweaty sports gear after a workout.

Ziploc Flexible Totes

  • Again, transporting OAMM food, this is best for casserole type dishes
  • Shopping for your OAMM food items, keep in trunk and add items as purchased, then just carry them into your partner’s home.
  • Storing all of your Ziploc disposable containers

Rice Krispies

RiceKrispieSpread

As I mentioned last week, I am a Rice Krispies Ambassador through theMotherhood.com. As part of this great team, I am working on coming up with a recipe to be submitted to the challenge. The challenge includes coming up with a Rice Krispies Treat recipe themed for Spring/Easter.

Since I have been hard at work the last few days testing new recipes, I thought that this venue would be a great opportunity to some taste testing. My participants agreed.

Stay tuned every afternoon this week (3/23-3/25) for my recipe ideas.

Cuisinart

During the October Once A Month Mom Tweet-Up we had food processors available for participants to test. The participants at the event indicated it was one of their favorite things. May of them hadn’t used a food processor or were unfamiliar with how to properly use one. In light of this, I decided that it would be fun to take the Cuisinart Elite 12 Cup Food Processor for participants of the Ziploc House Party to try.

Cuisinart

I purchased some vegetables and did a demonstration with the food processor. Participants then tried their hand at it. The sliced vegetables then became a vegetable tray of appetizers. Yum! And once again, participants learned a lot from the demonstration.

All in all it was a great time! And since it was a small party I have one gift pack left to share with one lucky reader.

  1. I use the Ziploc XL bags and flexible totes to store stuff in our lacking-storage-space house. The totes house clothes that don’t fit/aren’t in season and slide under the bed. In the kitchen, I definitely use the disposable tupperware and all sizes of freezer bags!

I use Ziploc mainly to store leftovers.

I use Ziploc daily in my kitchen. My latest project included making preschool activity bags for my 3 year old to work on while her brother is homeschooling!

  6. Emily says:

I love those screw-top containers! I use the two that I have (they came along with some regular containers) all the time and wish I had more. And I use the bags a lot for storing homemade baby food and frozen casseroles.

Oh, and I subscribe to the RSS feed

  8. Aimee says:

I use a lot of ziploc bags in storing frozen meals for my family. They are especially handy for my baked goods and for repackaging meat into meal-sized portions for future cooking.

  9. How do I use Ziploc – umm daily!! I love small and large screw on top ones. They have a name, but I can’t remember it. I often freeze soups and chilis that I’m going to give away in the large ones. If it’s for me, I put it in a Ziploc freezer bag.

I use the Ziploc Big Bags when I’m traveling to the beach. One gets the beach toys. It stays in the car so that when we come up from the beach, the mesh toy bag goes right in the Ziploc which then catches all the loose sand rather then it going all over the trunk.

The House of Hills LOVES Ziploc!

I recently used snack size ziploc baggies to create instant oatmeal bags ready to go for each morning. The bags can even be used again.

  18. stephanie says:

Gosh, let me count the ways! All my zip bags are ziplock so all the leftovers go in those. I’ve just gotten some of the twist top bowls. LOVE those for gooey stuff. The biggest probably lately is that I bought 40lbs of organice apples and made lots and lots of apple streusel muffins to put in the freezer. Not all 40 lbs made it into muffins. I also have apple sauce in the twist bowls in the freezer and in the pop-top kind – in the freezer. Ziplock has been super handy in my kitchen lately!

I use the small ziploc containers to hold screws/hardware from pieces of furniture taken apart for my move and then labled them to easily know what was inside.

  38. buzznsizzle says:

I freeze the fat and broth after I’m done boiling a chicken for use in soups later. I use the small ziploc containers for the fat and medium square ones. This keeps the broth/fat separated into easily manageable serving sizes.

  39. buzznsizzle says:

I use large ziploc freezer bags to hold my liquids/bottles when traveling. Sometimes bottles will burst on the plane or at high altitudes (or just leak) and I need something to protect my clothes.

  40. Sarah says:

  48. carla says:

I use ziploc in my kitchen regularly as it is the only brand “accepted” by my freezer cooking group because of it’s superb quality. And they keep on keeping on. Once I have cooked the meal that I received in my Ziploc bag, I wash out the bag and reuse them over and over again. Now that is quality. I would love to win this one!

  50. Clara says:

I use Quart & Gallon size ziploc bags to hold entire entrees from my OAMCooking because it keeps my serving dishes freed up and takes less space in the freezer. I lay a cookie sheet in the freezer, and as I fill up Ziploc bags, I can lay them to freeze flat on the sheet. Then I can either stand them up or lay them flat to conserve freezer space.

  51. Clara says:

    I am already a Facebook fan :) .

I use ziploc for almost all of my freezer storage. I love to use it for freezing meat.

  56. Beth says:

I use ziplock bags for lots of things: for freezing things flat (sauces, broth, caseroles, etc.), as well as for freezing veggies, freezing ice cube blocks of baby food, freezing separated portions of beef/chicken bought in bulk and more. I also use baggies for packing lunches for work, for keeping breast pump parts clean after they are sterolized, and for storing all of the wet stuff that comes with being a mommy!

  57. Beth says:

I’m a fan of once a month mom!
